Today, Congress passed a critical funding package including a five-year extension of Pediatric Priority Review Vouchers (PRVs) in the Give Kids a Chance Act and bipartisan legislation aimed at reducing barriers for patients facing red-tape when trying to access innovative treatments via the Accelerating Kids Access to Care Act. IGT Chairman Congressman Erik Paulsen issued the following statement:
“IGT applauds Congress for advancing this legislation with critical provisions to help keep the U.S. at the forefront of innovation and speed cures to children with serious and rare diseases. Gene therapies offer a unique opportunity to attack disease at its root – often with a single, transformative treatment – cutting long‑term health costs, disability, and caregiver burden, and pediatric PRVs help move these breakthroughs from lab to patient faster.
“IGT stands ready to continue working with Congress on a bipartisan basis to align innovation, regulation, and policies so we can ensure patients who stand to benefit from gene therapies have access.”
